Artistic Statement
For this project, I took a lot of inspiration from all different types of media ranging from platformers to rogue likes and I wanted to create a fresh idea where i know that a lot of the time the two genres overlap but I wanted to make it as fast paced as possible with the ability to only just get faster, I wanted to create a true dopamine rush from seeing just such huge speed that it just causes happiness. I went with the much simpler style for so many reasons, It wouldn’t take as long as it would have if i had gone with 3d modelling and it dint take as long as it would have. When beginning this 2 months ago, I had a extremely basic grasp on pixel art however now I feel like I have come a really long way, both in making pixel art but also making games with how big of a project this was to me and how big and difficult some of the mechanics I tried doing were with tutorials very far and few and I had to grab different bits out of so many different tutorials and frankenstein them all. I gave myself this massive project for the reason of personal growth and as a challenge to myself to get a big of a project like this done. I feel like there have definitely have been areas where I could improve, better coding practises and better general logic for my scripts (as have been pointed out by my own friends). Overall this project has been a huge and great learning experience and im definitely feeling more confident as to what I would want to do in the future.
