This is my blog for documenting my progress on Unit 4, Text Based Storytelling

This week, I have been working on further progressing through my Act 1,

Here, I have created the full intertwined storyline for the wizard and the rogue and have decided to meet them meet and talk, as well as having created the “Lazy” ending for if the player decides to ignore the plot and just be defiant if given the option to as well as “The Fishing Ending” which was very challenging to figure out the code to do this as this was my first time properly trying to use Harlowe’s code.

Unexpectedly, I ran into a lot of trouble with the code as it was very finicky at first and very specific with how it wanted to be worded but I prevailed and in the end I managed to get the chance of catching a fish code to work, this was mainly also a test to see if I could add code in the future which will unlock passages based on a chance, similar to rolling dice in Dungeons and Dragons.

That is going to it for this blog, Here is an updated rough timeline on the future:
WC 8/12/25 – more progress and possibly the end of act 1
WC 15/12/25 – Beginning of act 2
WC 22/12/25 – christmas week + progress on act 2
WC 5/1/26 – finishing act 2 + endings + polishing, final touches, bug testing and finishing.

I wanted to try to add the feelings they convey into the story, as if they chose a certain option, a different outcome could happen, like in Fallout. […]
