Unit 4, Dev blog 1, W/C. 24/11/25

Hello, this is the start of a series of blog posts that will document my Twine project for Unit 4, Text Based Storytelling.

For this unit we have to create a short, original text interactive adventure game with different kind of programming and narrative devices throughout it.

I started off my project by setting the basics and what I wanted to do in this story.

  • I knew I wanted it based off of Dungeons and Dragons.
  • I wanted different classes.
  • I wanted different perspectives per play through.
  • A lot of branching.

This is how I started off the project, an exposition and a touch of world building to immerse the player into the setting.

I also created the different classes and variables for the different hit points they have.

That is going to it for this blog, My timeline for this project is a rough projection:
WC 1/12/25 – progress on Act 1
WC 8/12/25 – more progress and the end of act 1
WC 15/12/25 – Beginning of act 2
WC 22/12/25 – Christmas week + progress on act 2
WC 5/1/26 – finishing act 2 + endings + polishing, final touches, bug testing and finishing.

I first looked at some games like DnD and Minecraft, but struggled to figure out how I’d be able to put them into Twine. Instead, when I got home, I looked at some old games when I got home, and wanted to try and implement them into Twine. I decided I’d go for a Fallout-style game, but then struggled on what to do for the week. […]
